Privacy

We're working with NZ counsel on a full Privacy Act 2020-compliant policy ahead of public launch. The summary below covers what we actually do today during internal beta.

What we collect

If you sign up for the waitlist, we collect your email address, your audience (seller or dealer), and any optional details you submit (e.g. NZBN, RMVT licence). If you create a real account, authentication is handled by Clerk and we receive your email, optional name, and a Clerk user identifier. Dealer applicants additionally provide their business name, NZBN, RMVT licence, business address, regions and vehicle types of interest.

Where it lives

Application data is stored in PostgreSQL hosted on Vercel/Neon in Sydney. Account/auth data is held by Clerk. Confirmation emails are sent via Resend. We don't sell or share your data with third parties beyond these processors.

Dealer preferences and product updates

Approved dealers can set buying preferences (regions, vehicle types, price band, annual stock target) which we use to tailor what we show you and to estimate launch-time lead volume. From time to time we send approved dealers product update emails. We record aggregate open counts on those emails (via a tracking pixel) so we know what's landing — we don't share that data with anyone outside Mairovo. Every product update email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is honoured immediately for future broadcasts. Transactional emails (about your application, onboarding, account) keep going regardless.

Finance applications

If you apply for finance through Mairovo, we collect the details on the application form (name, date of birth, contact details, employment and residency, purchase price and deposit). With your consent we then forward those details to a lender on our panel so they can assess the application. We don't run a credit check unless and until you tell us in writing to go ahead. You can email hello@mairovo.co.nz any time to withdraw an application or request your data back.

Anonymous “Sell” submissions and partner referrals

You can start a sell submission without creating an account. We keep what you enter — vehicle details, photos and the contact details you give us — for up to 30 days so we can come back to you with a result. If we have verified RMVT trade buyers who match your car, we'll ask you to create a free account to confirm your listing; if you don't, your draft is anonymised and deleted after 30 days. If we don't yet have a trade buyer for your car and you tick the consent box, we'll share your name, mobile, email and the details you entered about your car with our partner Auckland European(an Auckland-based RMVT trader) so they can offer you a cash purchase or trade-in. Sharing is opt-in only — if you don't tick the box, your details never leave Mairovo, and you can email hello@mairovo.co.nz any time to ask us to delete a pending submission earlier.

Anonymised data exports, research and data products

When you sign up — as a seller, a trade buyer, or via the anonymous Sell funnel — we ask you three optional questions about how we can use your activity beyond running the platform itself. All three default to “no”. Ticking none of them has no effect on your ability to use Mairovo.

• Anonymised data exports. If you tick this, we include your activity in anonymised datasets we share with research partners. We strip your name, contact details, the rego and the VIN before anything leaves Mairovo.
• Internal research. If you tick this, we use your activity to improve how Mairovo matches sellers to trade buyers, prices cars, and runs the seller experience. Nothing leaves Mairovo.
• Third-party data products. If you tick this, we may include your anonymised activity in market-trend data products we sell to lenders, insurers and dealer groups. Identifying details are removed first.

Each consent is recorded against a version. If we materially change what a consent covers we'll ask you again rather than relying on the old answer. You can email hello@mairovo.co.nz any time to withdraw a consent, and we'll remove your activity from future exports and rewrite the most recent export batch that included you.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. We sign you out immediately and hold your record for a 7-day cooling-off window in case you change your mind. After that, your account and any dealer application you submitted are permanently deleted from our database. Email hello@mairovo.co.nz if you'd like deletion done sooner, or if you only signed up to the waitlist (no account) and want your email removed.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can request access to or correction of any personal information we hold about you. Email hello@mairovo.co.nz and we'll come back to you within 20 working days.
